Job Opening:
Paralegal, Las Cruses, NM
Job Description:
The paralegal will provide
support to the litigation unit. This will include, among other
things, maintain case files, assisting with preparation of legal
briefs and memoranda, preparation of demonstrative exhibits and
PowerPoint demonstrations, using Concordance to organize and access
electronic documents, filing court documents, arranging for service
of documents, analyzing evidence, preparing spreadsheets, providing
trial support and interacting with witnesses. The paralegal will
use Lexis and Westlaw, hands-on familiarity with word processing,
database, spreadsheet, imaging, and telecommunications computer
applications as they will be used often.
Education:
Requires a paralegal certificate. An equivalent level of legal
training may be substituted with the approval of the COTR.
Required Skills:
Must have basic legal
knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation system
sufficient to perform basic legal research. Requires excellent
written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge of legal
research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. Should have hands-on
familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word
processing, database, spreadsheet, imaging and telecommunications.
Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme
pressure will be very important. Two to five years of litigation
paralegal experience required.
